Taking ownership or being accountable means taking full responsibility of the task that you are involved in. The result of that ownership does not matter too much. It could be good or bad but being responsible means you do not take the victim position but take the responsible position.
Things must happen because of you, not to you. Instead of playing the blame game, you actually take the onus of doing something about the situation.
